Attendance

Absence - Illness

If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, then please inform the office before 9am in the morning, and let us know why your child is going to be absent, and when you expect them to return. If your child is off for more than one day, we must still be informed each day of your child's absence until they return to school.

Medication

The School cannot hold or administer any medication that has not been prescribed by a doctor.

If your child requires prescribed medication whilst attending school, then please see the office, as you will be required to fill out an 'administration of medicine' form.

If your child requires non prescribed medication whilst at school, then you are able to come to the office at the appropriate time to administer the medicine yourself.

Sickness / Diarrhoea - Please keep your child off school for 48 hours

Please call 01726 860551 and leave a message.

Alternatively you can email the office on:

Absence - Holidays

If you are taking your child out of school for a holiday, or any other event, then an Exceptional Circumstances Leave Request form must be filled in prior to the absence. The form can be found below or alternatively it can be obtained from the office.

Please note that it is not school policy to authorise any holiday during the school term. Absences will be recorded as 'unauthorised' on the register.

Absence - Medical appointments

If you need to take your child out of school for any length of time to attend a medical appointment, then the school office must be notified in advance. We also ask to see the letter confirming the date and time of the medical appointment. Please ensure that, where possible, medical appointments are made outside of school time.

Attendance

From September 2015 the persistent absence threshold changed from 15% to 10%. The DfE also announced that Persistent Absence will now be based on 6 half-terms for pupils aged 5-14 at the start of the academic year.

A further change to the methodology means that pupils will be classified as persistent absentees if they miss 10% or more of their own individual possible sessions, rather than reaching a standard threshold of absence sessions, based on the total number of sessions in the term/year. For example: a pupil who attended a school for 1 week, but was absent for 1 day, will now be classed as a persistent absentee, as they will have been absent for 20% of their own individual possible sessions. This information is collected via the school census report.

Please help us and your child by ensuring that their attendance remains above 95%
